Farm holidays in South Tyrol

Farm holidays are healthy, completely free of stress and even educational – as well as being the ideal vacation form for active holidaymakers. While the children play with farm animals, their parents can help out in the barn, or simply relax and engage in a little dolce far niente.

A summer holiday on one of the highest-lying farmsteads can be truly refreshing, for you can enjoy the glorious sunny weather of the Southern Alps without the searing heat. One in ten of the 1,400 farms recognised by the “Red Rooster” association lies above the 5,000 foot elevation line

Here holidays really are made-to-measure for families , and children can let off steam completely care-free, just the way they should. On the farmstead children can stroke calves and rabbits or feed cows and goats, watch the cows being milked and taste the fresh milk.

Some farms are specialised in catering for special interests or requirements, for example for riding or hiking enthusiasts or children who suffer from allergies. Whatever your choice you can be sure of a typical Tyrolean welcome and of enjoying the hospitality which mountain folk are famous for, not to mention being indulged with delicious food made using ingredients produced on the farm. In short, a holiday spent among genuine people amid unspoilt nature.
